Water quality monitoring is technically and financially demanding and developing a profile and network for monitoring has not yet become a priority due to limited resources. A comprehensive guiding document and manual are required in water quality monitoring to guide the concerned agency in water quality monitoring ensuring consistency and uniformity. The published standards need to be updated contextualizing change in the baseline of water resources in Nepal, new identified pollutants/contaminants, climate change and change in technology in water quality. In this background WECS intends to prepare comprehensive Water Quality Monitoring framework for River Basin in Nepal.
